Barrette Backs and Pony tail holders are made in a number of styles. By far the most popular is what is known as the "Auto Lock" or "French clip" Although many barrettes look a like there can be a big difference in quality. The genuine French barrettes are made to a higher standard. The metal they use is much harder then other barrettes. Often customers will insist on barrettes that are stamped "Made in France" because they have enjoyed the quality. The same style is made in Asia and costs are certainly cheaper ( by about half ) however you will be buying a softer barrette with a much greater tendencies to not clip correctly after awhile.
