Chokers:

We have discontinued carrying our pre-made chokers. We do carry many of the components to make your own. Chokers are most often made from some type of lace or velvet ribbon. I have also seen them made of a flexible plastic cord and sometimes patterned cloth. They are easy to put together once you have gathered all the necessary parts. Here are some thoughts on what you might use:

  • As stated some type of ribbon

  • 2 Choker clamps. These are sold in the ( clasp) section. You want to make sure you buy clamps that are ( or at least close) to the width of the ribbon you are going to use. You will cut the ribbon to the length you want then simply close the clamps tight on the end of the ribbon.

  • Your going to need some jump rings or split rings. If your just starting off I recommend getting a bag of mixed size jump rings. This allows you to play around with different sizes and see what works. Split rings are another choice, they are very strong and will never come off, however they are really difficult to work with , also more expensive.

  • Some type of clasp. The vast majority of people seem to use the standard lobster clasp.

  • Some Chain.  A length of chain for the lobster clasp to attach to is a good way to insure that your choker is adjustable and will fit a variety of neck sizes.

  • Some type of decorative centerpiece. This is up to you of coarse and what makes your piece unique. I have seen people sew on settings and put cameos or stones in them. Also some people sew on filigrees and dangle stampings from them. It is really up to your imagination.

Below is the choker we used to offer. You can see from the picture how it was put together. This particular one had a special slide setting that is not available. You have to work around this, perhaps sewing one on if you are trying to make this style.

A note to volume buyers. I have had some request to carry this line again. I would require a 600pc order. Cost at the time of this writing would be .99each ( cameo not included) Lead time is 6 weeks. Payment upon placing order.... FOB Newfane Vermont
