Murano Sommerso art glass table lighter. Pink fade to amber to clear.  The metal lighter part does not work, probably could if you filled it and oiled it .Does not appear to ever have been used. It is all there but does not spark, I collect glass so never fooled with it. This is a fairly rare piece to come across and was happy when I found it about 10 years ago. Measures about 4.55 inches in height. 3 inches across. Condition: This does have some issues. It has a thumbnail size crack near the top rim. (See picture) Obviously bonked at one time. The crack is internal, you can not feel it if you run your finger over it. Also has a couple chips right on the edge of the bottom where it is ground flat. So unfortunately it is not perfect but will still look great in your collection or a centerpiece on your coffee table. I have sold this lighter design for $75 over and over so I am pricing accordingly with the chip.

Sommerso (lit. "submerged" in Italian), or "sunken glasses", is a form of artistic Murano glass that has layers of contrasting colors (typically two), which are formed by dipping a gather of colored glass into another molten glass and then blowing the gather into the desired shape; the outermost layer, or casing, is often clear. Sommerso was developed in Murano during the late thirties and was made popular by Seguso d'Arte & Mandruzzato family in the fifties. This process is a popular technique for vases, and is sometimes used for sculptures.

I do have a lot of Murano lighters I have collected over the years I will be selling this summer. .......I have been collecting Art Glass for about 20 years. I used to live next to a large flea market and a couple big antique malls. So I would pick things up whenever I saw something that fit the collection or I thought was a good deal. I sold about 50 paperweights last summer and I am getting pushed to sell the rest as I am relocating.  Please check out my ebay store as I will be putting things up all summer. Thanks
